End-to-End Flows

Use this page when you need to reason about a flow that crosses repos, contracts, and runtime boundaries instead of living inside one product surface.

When to use this page

  • You are mapping a trigger through multiple systems.
  • You need a concise cross-repo sequence before debugging or optimizing.
  • You need to identify human gates and failure points across the full path.

Architecture / Flow

Step-by-step procedure

1. Start with the trigger

Define whether the flow begins with:

  • a repo change
  • a runtime event
  • a user or operator action
  • a verification or signoff step

2. Identify the shared truth layer

Most cross-repo flows pass through a Fabric-owned contract, projection, or readiness surface before a downstream consumer acts on them.

3. Identify human gates and owner handoffs

Important questions:

  • where does ownership change
  • where is approval required
  • where is verification repeated

4. Verify the full flow, not just one hop

Combine:

  • route readback
  • artifact or docs provenance checks
  • one representative user-visible result

Verification

This page is being applied correctly when:

  1. the trigger and final outcome are both explicit
  2. owner boundaries and review gates are named
  3. verification covers the flow end-to-end rather than only one component

Common failure modes

Debugging each repo in isolation

Problem:

  • the cross-boundary handoff failure stays hidden.

Better path:

  • trace the trigger, shared truth layer, consumer, and outcome in order

Treating an end-to-end flow as fully automated when a human gate exists

Problem:

  • expectations and postmortems become wrong.

Better path:

  • name the exact review boundary in the flow
